Job title: Executive Director of Prism LGBTQ+ Community Center, Pottstown, Pa
Prism Mission: Providing education, resources, and support to the LGBTQ+ community and their allies in Pottstown and the surrounding communities.
Job Summary: The first ED of Prism will grow this young organization into a multiservice non-profit by expanding its relationships with individuals and organizations in the area. Priorities include recruiting, training and collaborating with volunteers, strengthening financial support and leading its Advisory Board with vision and imagination.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Strengthen participation in existing groups/programs
- Recruit, train and support volunteers
- Identify donors to both solicit support and build relationships
- Expand/deepen relationships within the wider community, including but not limited to
- Community leaders in Pottstown and beyond
- Other non-profits
- Schools
- Businesses
- Oversee the overall organization, scheduling, staffing of groups
- Engage public on legacy media, social media platforms, and website with regular postings and responses.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience recruiting, training, and sustaining volunteers
- Demonstrated success in non-profit fundraising
- Knowledge of the unique needs of LGBTQ+ communities through education, advocacy and personal experience/relationships
- Organization and boundary setting skills
- Collaborative leadership style
- Ability to create and post relevant social media content
Work Environment and Location: Prism LGBTQ+ Community Center is located on the second floor of 414 High St, Pottstown (locally known as “MIssion First”), in space donated by First Baptist Church of Pottstown. An elevator is available as an alternative to stairs. Work is primarily in person.
Prism is an official program of First Baptist Church. However, the goal is for Prism to become an independent 501(C)3. Until that time, the ED will report to First Baptist’s Ministry Coordination Team through the Pastor of FBC (as “CEO”) as well as seek regular guidance and support from the Prism Advisory Board.
Compensation: This is a part time position with the possibility of becoming full-time based on performance and fundraising. $40-50. per hour, depending on experience; 25 hours a week
