Dear Rainbow Circle Friends,

I’m thrilled to share that Finding a Home Among Baptists by C. Delane Tew is finally here! After five years in the making, this long-awaited history tells the story of how Baptists have “come out” over the decades to affirm and include LGBTQ+ people of faith. Thanks to your generosity, AWAB is now sending copies to donors who helped make this project possible, as well as to the congregations who participated in Dr. Tew’s research. Your support quite literally helped bring this story to life!

Coming out. Each of us has a coming-out story—whether we identify as LGBTQ+ or as allies who stand beside us. Coming out takes courage, sensitivity, and care. It can be profoundly freeing, yet at times deeply challenging. The stories in this book remind us that entire congregations have shared that journey—experiencing both joy and struggle as they’ve stepped into the light of affirmation and inclusion.

Recently, one of our Baptist congregations took that same brave step by joining AWAB publicly. Their decision has been met with both celebration and resistance within their association, yet their leaders continue to move forward with courage and faith. Because of your support, AWAB is walking with them—offering pastoral guidance, community, and the assurance that they are not alone.

As we recognize National Coming Out Day, may we remember all who have taken this bold step, and may we also hold space for those who are still discerning when and how to share their truth. Your monthly giving through the Rainbow Circle helps make these moments possible. You are providing resources, encouragement, and a network of love that allows individuals and congregations to live out the Gospel of welcome without fear.

Every week, I hear from pastors, parents, and LGBTQ+ people who tell me how AWAB’s presence gives them strength. Your faithfulness sustains this ministry and ensures that more stories of courage will be told in the years ahead.

Thank you for making AWAB’s mission not just a vision, but a lived reality of inclusion, compassion, and hope. Together, we are helping the church truly become home for all.

With deep gratitude,
~Brian
