As Lent continues, many people begin searching for a place to worship during Holy Week and Easter. Some return to church during this season after time away. Others are looking for a church that will truly welcome their family, their child, or their full self.

That is why AWAB’s Holy Week Directory is back for its third year.

The 2026 directory is now live and ready for anyone searching for an LGBTQ+ affirming church, a welcoming Baptist congregation, or an inclusive Christian worship service during this sacred season.

Holy Week 2026 begins on Palm Sunday, March 29, and continues through Easter Sunday on April 5.

Why This Directory Matters

Lent and Easter often stir something in people. For some, this season brings spiritual curiosity. For others, it brings a longing to reconnect with church.

Many people are not just looking for any church. They are looking for a place where they, their family, or their children will be safe, respected, and fully included. They may be searching for a progressive Christian church, an affirming Easter service, or a welcoming Baptist congregation near them.

AWAB created this directory with those people in mind.

James Rice III, AWAB’s Communications Coordinator, said, “We know this season often leads people to reconnect with church, sometimes for the first time in a long time. Our hope is that when they go searching for a welcoming and affirming church for themselves, their family, or their kids, they find one of the churches in our movement.”

What You’ll Find in the Directory

The AWAB Holy Week Directory helps connect people with AWAB member churches offering Holy Week and Easter services across the country.

Visitors can browse listings by state and find service details, church websites, and social media information when available. Whether someone is looking for Palm Sunday worship, a Good Friday service, or an Easter Sunday church home, the directory makes that search easier.

The directory is open for submissions from all AWAB member churches and open for anyone to search. So far, 35 churches have submitted listings, and more are still being added.

A Tool for Welcome and Connection

This directory is more than a seasonal resource. It is a ministry tool. It helps connect people searching for belonging with churches ready to receive them with dignity, care, and radical welcome.

The AWAB Holy Week Directory will remain live through Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. Churches are still invited to submit their Holy Week and Easter listings, and everyone is welcome to explore and share the directory.

If you are searching for an LGBTQ+ affirming church this Lent or Easter, or if you know someone who is, we invite you to start here.
