Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church (LABC), a historic 166-year-old congregation located steps from Oakland’s Lake Merritt, is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor who resonates deeply with our mission: “LABC is an inclusive community that embraces all followers of Jesus Christ… empowered by the Spirit, we strive to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.”

Qualifications
Candidates must hold:
- A Master of Divinity or Doctor of Ministry (from an ATS-accredited seminary or regionally accredited university)
- Ordination in and good standing with a recognized denomination

- Pastoral Care: Compassionate ministry across generations in a diverse, intersectional community
- Administration: Oversight of church budgets, buildings, boards, and our historic children’s center
- Children & Youth Ministry: Commitment to revitalizing and prioritizing these essential programs
- Communications & Marketing: Leadership in newsletters, social media, and community presence
- Technology: Oversight of livestreaming, digital meetings, and online engagement
Position Details
- Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week
- Start Date: January 1, 2027
- Works collaboratively with the Church Council
- Called by the active membership of the congregation
