Find an LGBTQ+ Affirming Church for Holy Week and Easter 2026

Looking for an LGBTQ+ affirming church for Holy Week or Easter 2026? The AWAB Holy Week Directory connects you with welcoming and affirming Baptist churches across the country, offering worship services for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, and Easter Sunday. Holy Week 2026 begins on Palm Sunday, March 29, and culminates on Easter Sunday, April 5.

Whether you are searching for a progressive Christian church, a queer-friendly Easter service, or a faith community where LGBTQ+ people are fully included, this directory is here to help you find a place of worship, belonging, and radical welcome. AWAB member churches are committed to full inclusion and faith-based justice, making this directory a trusted resource for anyone seeking a church home during one of the holiest seasons of the Christian year.

How to Use This Directory

Click on a state to view participating church listings in that area. Under each church name, you’ll find available Holy Week and Easter service information, along with website and social media details when provided. (Note: Washington, D.C. is listed in alphabetical order next to Washington State, and virtual & international ministries are listed at the end of the state listings.)

Whether you are a longtime churchgoer, a spiritual seeker, traveling for the holiday, or simply looking for an affirming place to worship this Easter, we hope this directory helps you find your Holy Week home.

3/15 – 4/5 – 10:45 am – Dr. Brogdon’s Easter sermon series, “When the Gospel Meets Our Failure”
Failure is not the end of God’s work. It is often the place where God meets us and reshapes us. Through this sermon series we will follow the gospel story through the disciples’ misunderstandings, the conspiracy to kill Jesus, and the hard truth of Good Friday. And on Easter, we will proclaim that resurrection means God gets the final word, not our sin, not our rebellion, not even the failures of the church. In a time when many have grown disillusioned or distant from organized religion, this series is an invitation to rediscover a gospel that is honest about failure and bold about hope. There is a word from the Lord for such a time as this.

Sanctuary Easter worship is the largest service of the day, with an average of 600 people attending. Worship includes brass musicians, hymns, musical anthems from the Sanctuary Choir, a 15-minute sermon from Senior Minister Carol McEntyre, prayers, and a children’s reflection. Visitors are not singled out, but everyone will be invited to rise and pass the peace at the beginning of worship. This is the easiest service to anonymously blend in with the crowd. Parking lots may get full. If you need mobility support, a golf cart team drives around the lots to deliver attendees to the front doors of the Sanctuary. Restrooms in the Sanctuary area include women’s, men’s, and a family all-gender single-stall bathroom.

3/29 – 11 am – Palm Sunday Worship
On this special Sunday, we welcome all ages to join us in the Narthex for the Processional. We will celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and then begin our waiting as Holy Week begins.

4/2 – 7 pm – Maundy Thursday Holy Communion
This is a service that joins us together around the Table and the Remembrance of the Last Supper. It is a time of reflection and a time of receiving the gift of Jesus’ grace. We close the service with a reading for the day to come, Good Friday. As we depart, the darkness falls and the waiting for Easter begins.

4/5 – 11 am – Easter Sunday Worship
We are Easter People and celebrate Resurrection. A flower cross on the front lawn testifies to new life. Everyone is welcome to bring a flower to add. In worship we add the “Alleluias” back into our celebration after the long Lenten journey. And we tell the Easter story through scripture, song, and proclamation. We will continue to celebrate Easter for 50 days. Join us for worship each Sunday of Easter to proclaim “Christ is Risen.”

3/29 – 11 am – Palm Sunday Service
On the final Sunday of Lent, we will undertake the journey of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem all the way to his arrest, conviction, and crucifixion. We will read scripture and sing together as we sit in the reality of how quickly the shouts of Hosanna and the waving of palm branches turn to shouts of Crucify him. We will wonder and reflect on the ways we are implicated in Jesus’ death, and how we can work against powers of empire and death in our world today.

4/1 – 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Labyrinth Walk and Foot Washing
Come for a Holy Week meditation in the form of a labyrinth walk and foot washing ritual. Our friends who formerly hosted the labyrinth ministry, begun at SFBC by Rev. Cathy Franssen, will set the space. We will have a foot washing and/or handwashing ritual available before or after labyrinth walks to remember Jesus’ humble servant leadership and to offer tangible community care. Handheld and table-sized labyrinths will be available for those who prefer to stay seated. The space will be set with candles and meditative music, so join for a brief walk or stay the whole time to be immersed in the Spirit. All are welcome.

4/3 – 6 pm – Good Friday Dinner and Service
All are welcome to join a Holy Friday dinner of remembrance and reflection on Friday, April 3 at 6 pm in the Fellowship Hall. In our time together, we will remember the journey of Jesus through Holy Week, filling in the space from the triumphant entry to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to the depths of grief on Holy Friday. We will tell the story again, hoping to gain some new wisdom or perspective as we engage with it through the lens of the Good News revealed through nonviolence. Our dinner will be a simple one of soup, bread, and salad, with vegetarian options available.
