The Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists is seeking a part-time Program Coordinator to join our growing staff team.
As AWAB enters a new season of ministry, this position will help strengthen the programs and resources that serve our expanding network of welcoming and affirming Baptist congregations, educational partners, ministry organizations, and individuals.
The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director, AWAB staff, committees, and volunteer leaders to coordinate programming and deepen engagement throughout the association.
Position Details
Part-time: Approximately 20 hours per week
Annual salary: $25,000 to $30,000, commensurate with experience
Anticipated start date: As soon as possible
Reports to: AWAB Executive Director
Some travel and occasional evening or weekend availability will be required for AWAB programs and events.
A 90-day review will provide an opportunity to assess the position, clarify priorities, and identify areas for continued growth.
About the Position
The Program Coordinator will oversee and advance several important areas of AWAB’s ministry, including:
Webinars and educational programming
AWAB’s Annual Lecture
Awards and scholarships
AWAB Sunday
Resource development for member congregations
AWAB’s participation in regional and national gatherings
Member and educational partner engagement

Clear written and verbal communication

The ability to build positive relationships across different congregations and ministry contexts
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who understands that good programming is ultimately about people. This role will help AWAB create opportunities that strengthen relationships and equip churches for the ongoing work of welcoming and affirming ministry.
What Success Looks Like
During the first year, the Program Coordinator will help establish sustainable rhythms for AWAB’s programming and member engagement.
Priorities include strengthening AWAB’s webinar and educational offerings, advancing congregational resources, increasing participation in AWAB Sunday, supporting the Annual Lecture, and creating clearer processes around awards and scholarships.
The Program Coordinator will also become an important point of connection between AWAB staff and the congregations, educational partners, committees, and volunteer leaders who make this work possible.
