Dear Rainbow Circle Friends,
Though feeling the time zone difference, all is coming along well and smoothly so far. I experienced a small-world factor upon boarding my flight for Munich, Germany yesterday. A man turned toward me and asked what my group boarding number was. As I turned to look at him with my response, I realized we knew each other. His wife came around him and looked at me saying, “Brian…we’re Doug and Anne…” Earlier this year I officiated their 24 year old son’s funeral. As we had time to talk before and after our flight, the three of us experienced moments of grace together.
Sometimes “grace” shows up and steps into time and space as if to hold and help us…reminding us that even in our fast-paced world with so much uncertainty, we can still feel and share moments filled with goodness and peace. Not that I’ve been overly anxious about this trip, but by reconnecting so unexpectedly with Doug and Anne, I was reminded that I am where I am to be and the moments to come in the days ahead will be fruitful and filled with potential and possibility.
Know I am thinking of you still as I travel. I pray that “grace” will hold and help you today. In the words of the late Rev. Claypool:
In the goodness of God
You were born into this world;
By the grace of God You have been kept
All the day long,
Even until this hour;
By the love of God,
Fully revealed in the face of Jesus,
You are being redeemed.
Peace, ~Brian
Thank you for this reflection. At the moment I encountered it I am in a waiting room while my husband undergoes a second procedure for skin cancer, after also being treated for aggressive prostate cancer. Reading your blog offered me a moment of grace exactly as you described it. Thank you.
