Here We Grow
AWAB is the only organization across the Baptist landscape solely devoted to supporting churches in being and becoming welcoming and affirming of all people, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
From its humble beginnings as a grassroots organization in the US half a century ago, AWAB has now blossomed into a fully formed 501(c)3, celebrating its 30th year. Our influence has transcended borders, reaching the continents of Africa and Europe. As an international entity, we collaborate with Baptist identities and denominations, including individuals, congregations, and regional groupings, including those aligned with other Christian denominations outside of Baptist Life.
Our 1-Million Dollar ‘Here We Grow’ Campaign is a significant step towards strengthening and empowering AWAB. Success allows us to build a robust and collaborative staff and an engaged board of directors, enabling us to provide high-quality LGBTQ+ resources to Baptists worldwide. We aim to become a model of inclusive love for all and demonstrate good stewardship of a ministry with agility and financial stability.
What will the $1 million
‘Here We Grow’ funds allow us to do?

Provide monthly webinars to address a range of topics related to LGBTQ+ realities impacting both queer folx and allies alike
Continue our annual lectureship, which features a scholar, theologian, or historian who
offers perspective and thought rooted in and informed
by the academy but practical
in application to LGBTQ+ issues
Respond in moments of
needed advocacy with
statements of solidarity, vigils, events, or whatever else is necessary in the face of political, social, and religious injustice
