Called Out With presents itself as compendium and complement to the book Called Out: Voices and Gifts of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered Presbyterians. Here you will read stories of friends, family, and allies who work beside lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people to help create a church that will one day be fully inclusive.

These authors are not patronizing, but are allies using their privilege to shed more light on the injustice caused by forbidding the calls of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people of faith who want only to serve. From their own life stories, these authors have come to see lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people as family, friend, or member of their own faith community. They also understand and have responded to the mystery and sacredness of sexual spirituality, of what today is often called an embodied faith.

From the introduction, by Jane Adams Spahr.

Great for:

Allies who are struggling in beginning a conversation about sexuality in their faith communities and who want to hear from others who have stood up for LGBTQ+ inclusion in potentially challenging and hostile settings
