Being Trans in 2024
Thursday, April 11
7 pm
Watts Street Baptist Church
Durham, NC
What does it mean to be transgender and what are the challenges facing the transgender community in the United States today? Rev. Dr. Donnie Anderson sees a message of encouragement and hope in the Gospels that affords a great opportunity for the church to be the church.
Rev. Dr. Donnie Anderson is an ordained minister in the UMC, UCC, and ABCUSA. She is a pastor, educator, counselor, and social activist who lives in Providence, RI. When, at age 69, she came out to her family, they were shocked. “I’ve been told many times that I am the first transgender person someone knows, to which I reply, I am the first OUT transgender person you know.” Dr. Anderson is a board member of the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists (AWAB).
Join AWAB for this conversation on Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 pm at Watts Street Baptist Church (800 Watts St, Durham, NC 27701). Light desserts will be served.
