First Baptist Greenville’s Associate Youth and College Minister is a full-time staff position with benefits. This position is an entry-level position, assisting our full time Minister of Youth and College, designed for recent seminary or divinity school students who have completed, or will complete a Master of Divinity. Using their gifts and talents for ministry, they should have a passion for ministering to youth and their families ages 6th grade through college in a large youth ministry. This position offers foundational experience and an expansion of knowledge and skill in collaboration with an innovative pastoral staff and youth minister with 16 years of experience. The Associate Youth and College Minister will report directly to the Minister of Youth and College.

Responsibilities 

  • Primary responsibilities are to be focused on the pastoral care, spiritual development and wellness of ages 6th grade through college, building relationships and actively engaging in their lives.
  • Assist the Minister of Youth and College with yearly theme development and calendaring.
  • Lead Bible Studies, Devotions, and other faith development activities regularly.
  • Attend all youth ministry activities, events, and regularly scheduled Wednesday and Sunday evenings.
  • Organize and lead the Sunday school teaching team; schedules, curriculum, communication.
  • Plan and lead recreational times for youth, such as game nights, day trips, and overnight trips for fellowship, missions and spiritual/faith development.
  • Assist with planning, leading, and carrying out camps and retreats as a chaperone, small group leader, main group leader, recreation leader, driver, etc.
  • Plan and carry out local mission projects. These would include, but not be limited to, Annie’s House, United Ministries, Soup Kitchen and other local missions opportunities.
  • Plan and lead annual middle school missions blitz weekend.
  • Lead the congregational college ministry (the Bridge), such as monthly gatherings, lessons, and missions experiences
  • Provide pastoral care to youth and college-age members in crisis.
  • Participate in worship regularly.
  • Assist in planning Youth Missions and Ministry yearly budget.
  • Assist with the operation of the Youth Ministry office as needed.
  • Serve as staff liaison to Church Picnic Committee and Bridge Committee
  • Assist the Minister of Youth & College with the committees on which they serve as staff liaison: Youth Committee and Scholarship Committee.
  • Serve as a member of General Staff and participate in monthly meetings.
  • Attend Worship Team, Coordination Team, and Care and Concern weekly meetings.
  • Managing publicity for youth events and activities. Must be proficient with the media that is most relevant for teenagers and parents.
  • Attend continuing education opportunities as scheduling and finances allow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Minister of Youth and College.
